(Kansas City, MO) The Kansas City Chiefs concluded the preseason with a 34-21 loss to the Chicago Bears Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City did not use their starters in the loss as quarterbacks Ian Book and Chris Oladokun shared the final exhibition game.
Oladokun completed 9-of-16 passes for 66 yards, while Book collected 71 yards on six completions and 2 touchdowns. The Chiefs offense passed for 136 yards and run for 135. Carson Steele led the rushers with 50 yards on four carries with the lone rushing touchdown in the loss.
Chicago used three QBs including Tyson Bagent who ran for a touchdown, and Brett Rypien who threw for 106 total yards. Austin Reed added a passing touchdown on eight tries. Velus Jones Jr. carried the ball 13 times for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Bears cornerback Douglas Coleman III made a tackle along the Chiefs sideline and was left motionless. Doctors tended to Coleman II. He was eventually immobilized on a stretcher and driven out of the stadium.
The Chiefs begin the season Thursday, September 5 at home against the Baltimore Ravens on KFMO.
