(Las Cruces, NM) The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks dropped their Week 1 match up with New Mexico State 23-16 on Saturday.
The Aggies used a powerful ground game that saw Seth McGowan take it to the house twice and collected 87 yards on 11 carries. New Mexico State as a team ran the ball for 210 yards, while only passing for 60 yards.
Aggies QB Parker Awad completed just 5-of-17 passes.
SEMO passed for 295 yards as Paxton DeLaurent completed 27 of his 45 passes.
Third Down efficiency was the difference of the game. The Redhawks converted on just five third down chances, while facing 16 total third downs. New Mexico State converted on ten tries.
SEMO (1-1) will get their home opener Saturday against Tennessee-Martin.
