August 4th Primary Elections Soon

(St. Francois County, MO.) The August Primary elections will  be held Tuesday, August 4th. Several St. Francois county races will set up the shape of the November elections. There are 3 Republican candidates running for the Associate Commissioner seat in District 1 in St. Francois County. They include the incumbent, Gay Wilkenson, plus challengers Jesse James Rupp and Kary Buckley. Incumbent Patrick Mullins will run for reelection as Associate Commissioner of District 2 against the winner of the Republican race between hopefuls David Kater, the Mayor of Desloge, and Greg Montgomery. Mullins is a Democrat while Kater and Montgomery. are on the Republican ticket. Mullins will face the winner in November.
There are two candidates on the ballot for St. Francois County Sheriff including Sheriff Dan Bullock and his opponent Ryan Miller. Both are running as Republicans.
There's also a contested race for County Coroner. Republicans Jason J. Coplin, the incumbent, and Dan Sanders are vying for the seat.
In the race for Senate District 3 Joshua Barrett, Kent Scism, and former State Representative Elaine Gannon,. are running. They are all Republicans. No Democrats filed for that Senate race. The Senate district has had no one in the position since the appointment of  Gary Romine to the State Tax Commission.
In the 115th District State Representative Race, the district of former representative Gannon, there are 3 Republicans running. They are Cyndi Bucheit Courtway, Marvin Fricke, and Ryan Jones. The winner will face the lone Democrat who filed, Cynthia D. Nugent, in November.
The State Representative race in District 116 features two candidates and they're both Republicans, since no Democrats filed for the position. Incumbent Dale Wright faces challenger Bryant Wolfin.
For the 117th district race two candidates have filed for the August Primary. They are incumbent Republican Mike Henderson and Democratic hopeful Tony Dorsett.
There are two issues on the August 4th ballot. The statewide expansion of Medicaid and a local issue for the City of Park HIlls. If approved by voters that proposal would see Park Hills citizens paying an increased sales tax of one fourth of one percent for the purpose of providing funds for public safety, including but not limited to, equipment and training for the Park Hills Police Department.
