Barbecue raising funds for Living Well Project

Having water safe drinking water is often expected in the US, but for many areas of the world’s population, it’s scarce and sometimes dangerous.  A group of Farmington parents is trying to change that for the people of Kenya by raising funds to drill water wells.

With a population of 50 million, 41 percent of Kenyans lack access to safe water, according to Water-dot-org, and still rely on unimproved water sources, such as ponds, shallow wells and rivers. Rural areas and impoverished urban areas are often unable to connect to piped water infrastructure.

The group in Farmington is called the ‘Living Well’ Project, and is working to drill a well through a go fund me, and by holding a barbeque event on March 5th, and will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church at the corner of Karsch Boulevard and North Street. During that time, anyone may purchase a meal to fund the Living Well Project.

To request an order form for the barbeque, email them at livingwell.kenya@gmail.com.
