Bismarck Fire Protection District Orders Evacuation Due to Flooding

Iron Mountain Lake, Mo. (KFMO) - The Bismarck Fire Protection District has issued an evacuation order for residents in the Iron Mountain Lake area below the dam, as well as those on East and West Lake Shore Drive.

St. Francois County Emergency Management warned that a nearby levee near Iron Mountain Lake is at risk of failing. Although evacuation is currently voluntary, residents in designated “purple areas” on the map below are strongly encouraged to leave. Officials say doing so will help first responders focus on cleanup efforts and ensure the safety of the community.

St. Francois County Sheriff Dan Bullock has confirmed that some residents have already evacuated, with more possibly expected.

A command post has been set up at Iron Mountain Lake City Hall to coordinate efforts. Residents seeking shelter can go to the Bismarck Senior Center in Bismarck.
