(Washington, DC) 200 years ago today Missouri entered the United States of America's union as the 24th state. Missouri United States Senator, Roy Blunt, says today, we celebrate 200 years of Missouri statehood. And you can't talk about American history without talking about Missouri history, especially the men and women whose achievements helped shape who we are today, and where we are today.
Blunt also says we should also remember all the places where you can see and experience our history. You can stop by 'America's Hometown' of Hannibal, Missouri, or see the birthplace of Route 66 in Springfield. You can visit the newly renovated Wilson's Creek National Battlefield Visitor Center or the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum in Independence. And one of America's newest national parks and the first historical national park in our state, Ste. Genevieve. Missouri is also the site of the National World War I Museum and the Memorial in Kansas City and the replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Perryville. And, of course, the St. Louis Arch, the Gateway to the West.
