BREAKING NEWS!!! Burkett Resigns as Iron County Sheriff

(Ironton, MO) Jeff Burkett is no longer the Sheriff of Iron County after he tendered his resignation as his trial to remove him from office began. Burkett is facing several charges including participating in criminal street gang activities, first degree stalking, attempted kidnapping, second degree stalking, obtaining criminal histories with false pretense, misusing the 911 system, making a false report, and disclosure of criminal records. It's alleged Burkett was trying to assist Donald Rick Gaston to gain custody of his children after a domestic dispute with the children's mother. According to reports Burkett's attorney, Gabe Crocker, denies Burkett's resignation has anything to do with admitting guilt or innocence in the case. Washington County authorities are handling the criminal charges against Burkett.
