Caroline's Carts

CAROLINE'S CARTS

Grocery shopping is often an ordeal in the best circumstances, but when adults or teens with disabilities go to the store for any occasion, it now can be made easier. Caroline’s Carts are adaptive shopping carts with an attached seat that will accommodate an adult, and two local grocers have made the needed purchase.  Life Inc Marketing Director Randy Windsor spoke with KFMO at the Bonne Terre Chamber meeting, emphasizing the need for inclusion of teens and adults with disabilities in the creation of opportunities and accessibility in normal life.

The local Save A Lot stores took initiative in purchasing the carts, while Life Inc is still working to fundraise and supply them in other stores.

United Way Executive Director Cassie Thomas was excited about the Caroline’s Cart for an entirely personal reason, her daughter Bryar and her desire to shop for candy! Bryar would like to be included in trips to the store, and Cassie says the carts will make that possible.

Here are Cassie and Bryar shopping with the new Caroline’s Cart: (candy included!)
