St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Wolf Creek Fire Department, along with several mutual aid companies, battled a significant fire Wednesday afternoon on Old Jackson Road. The fire engulfed multiple structures, including a shop that was fully involved, a mobile home partially involved, and a barn also impacted by flames.
Crews first on the scene initiated an aggressive interior fire attack on the mobile home and barn, joined by other area fire crews. Heavy content conditions throughout the property created challenges for responders.
Additional support from the Doe Run Fire Protection District, Park Hills Fire Department, and Desloge Volunteer Fire Department established a water supply. A second alarm was called for additional resources, followed by a third alarm to address manpower shortages due to the extensive workload and high content levels.
Compounding the situation, a brush fire sparked by the shop fire required brush trucks, but it was quickly contained without further threat to neighboring properties.
Crews worked through the night, conducting extensive overhaul operations. Firefighters from Big River Fire Protection, Leadwood Fire Protection District, Cherokee Pass Fire Protection District, Leadington Fire Department, Farmington Fire Department and Bismarck Fire Protection District also assisted in the response.
St. Francois County Ambulance District and the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department provided on-scene support, while Ste. Genevieve Fire Department handled coverage for other potential incidents.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
