Fatal Crash in Jefferson County Leaves One Dead and Two Injured

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A two-vehicle crash on the northbound West Outer Road of Interstate 55, just north of Bayberry Lane, resulted in one fatality and two injuries Monday evening in Jefferson County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 9:09 p.m. when a 2019 Ford Transit, traveling southbound, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a northbound 2013 Ford Escape.

The driver of the Ford Transit, a 79-year-old man from Barnhart, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital South by ambulance. A 77-year-old female passenger in the Transit was also transported to Mercy Hospital South but was pronounced deceased at 6:29 p.m.

The driver of the Ford Escape, a 29-year-old woman from Imperial, suffered minor injuries and was privately transported to Mercy Hospital South.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash and were towed from the scene.
