High Ridge Fire Protection District Gives Hometown Hero Award

High Ridge, Mo. (KFMO) - The High Ridge Fire Protection District celebrated the brave actions of 15-year-old Savannah Strother, by awarding her with the Hometown Hero Award on Monday night.

According to the district, Strother was given the award based on her quick and heroic actions after two homes, in the Capetown South subdivision, caught fire on July 9, 2024. When crews arrived on the scene, they were told that everyone had escaped both homes. Strother, a babysitter in one of the homes, quick thinking and immediate action helped avert any further tragedy when she got two young children and the family pet, out of the second home that caught fire.

Intense flames were just feet away from blocking the exit to the front door.
