Hillsboro Man Dies in Crash

(Jefferson County, MO) A 20 year old man from Hillsboro, Jared C. Young, is dead after he was involved in a three vehicle crash in Jefferson County Friday night. According to Highway Patrol reports the wreck happened at 9:30 when Young was driving his car north on Highway E, at Belleville Lane. He attempted to pass an SUV in a curve. The SUV was headed north driven by John W. Schneidewind of DeSoto. Young swerved while attempting to avoid a pick up going south driven by 47 year old Brent A. Pogue, of Bonne Terre. The two vehicles collided and Young's car ran off the right side of the road and caught fire while Pogue's truck ran off the left side of the highway. Young was taken to Mercy Hospital South at St. Louis where he was later pronounced dead. Pogue, who was moderately injured, was taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson. Schneidewind was not injured.
