House Springs Man Sentenced to 7 Years for Probation Violation

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A House Springs man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for violating the terms of his probation after pleading guilty to multiple drug-related offenses. 46-year-old Reed B. Ludwig had previously admitted to three separate charges of possession of a controlled substance, according to court records.

On September 24, Jefferson County Division 4 Circuit Judge Brenda Stacey revoked Ludwig’s probation and ordered him to serve seven years for each of the drug violations. However, the sentences will run concurrently, meaning they will be served at the same time, as indicated in court documents.

Ludwig’s most recent charge of possession of a controlled substance stems from a November 2023 arrest. On July 29, he was stopped for speeding in the 3400 block of Old Sugar Creek Road in High Ridge. During the stop, Ludwig was arrested for driving with a revoked license. A deputy from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office discovered a bag containing methamphetamine in Ludwig’s pocket, according to the probable cause statement.

Ludwig is currently being held at the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre. He is scheduled to appear in Jefferson County Circuit Court on October 29 for the July drug charge, court records show.

Ludwig was on probation following several earlier arrests in Jefferson County. His first arrest occurred on March 25, 2017, when a Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped him for suspicious activity near the intersection of West Dry Fork Road and Old Highway 21 in House Springs. A search of Ludwig revealed syringes and a white crystal-like substance in his pocket. Ludwig pleaded guilty to a possession charge and was sentenced to seven years, but the sentence was suspended, and he was placed on five years’ probation.

In April 2019, Ludwig was arrested twice. The first arrest came on April 3 when he was pulled over for not having proper license plates on his vehicle in the 4600 block of Gravois Road in House Springs. During the stop, Ludwig handed over a box containing marijuana and a smoking device with residue. Deputies also found a crystal-like substance in his pocket and a coffee can in the vehicle containing marijuana and a digital scale.

The second arrest in 2019 occurred on April 18, when deputies responded to a report of drug activity at a residence in the 5900 block of Parkedge Drive in House Springs. Inside the home, deputies found a pill container with a crystal-like substance and a bag of marijuana hidden in a cat litter box.

Ludwig pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance on December 21, 2020. He was sentenced to seven years for each charge, to be served concurrently, but was released on probation after completing a 120-day shock incarceration program.
