(St. Louis, MO) A St. Louis County man, 29 year old Brandon Vandoren, is facing 17 ½ years in prison after being sentenced for a carjacking in 2020 in Jefferson County that permanently injured his victim. Vandoren was convicted for stealing a car parked at a Jefferson County, Missouri gas station and convenience store May 20th of 2020. The car's driver, who was inside the store, ran outside and was struck by the stolen vehicle. The victim nearly died due to the carjacking and has been left with permanent injuries. Officers found the car the next day at a motel in St. Louis County. They arrested Vandoren and found a firearm in the room. Vandoren is a convicted felon and is barred from possessing a firearm. Vandoren pled guilty November 8th to one count of carjacking. Another man, 31 year old Matthew Carver, of St. Louis, drove Vandoren to the convenience store in a stolen car. He pled guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Carver’s sentencing is pending. The felon in possession charge carries a potential penalty of up to ten years in prison. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
