Leadwood Firefighters Contain Spreading Grass Fire with Help from Multiple Agencies

Leadwood, Mo. (KFMO) - No injuries are being reported after Leadwood Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a fire investigation that quickly escalated into a substantial grass fire Wednesday afternoon at 12:05 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews spotted a plume of smoke but discovered that the blaze was inaccessible from their original dispatched location. After finding an access point, firefighters encountered a quarter acre grass fire that had started to spread rapidly. Additional units were immediately requested to assist in controlling the growing fire. Crews worked swiftly to establish a fire line to prevent further spread. Soil and Land, a local company, provided crucial support by supplying a bulldozer to cut the fire line, along with water trucks to aid in extinguishing the flames.

Responding units from multiple districts, including Irondale Fire Protection District, Desloge Volunteer Fire Department, Potosi Fire Protection District, and Bismarck Fire Protection District, joined the efforts.

Thanks to their combined response, the fire was successfully contained. Crews remained on the scene until the flames reached the fire line and were fully extinguished. No injuries were reported, and the quick actions of the fire departments prevented the blaze from spreading to nearby areas.
