Light Snow and Hazardous Travel Conditions Possible Saturday Across the Parkland

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - A fast-moving storm system is expected to bring light snow to the Parkland on Saturday, with accumulations of less than an inch expected locally. Snowfall is anticipated to begin around noon and taper off by 6 p.m.

While most of the area will see less than an inch of snow, a narrow band from Mexico, Missouri, through St. Louis, and into Jerseyville, Illinois, could see higher totals of 2-4 inches. These amounts depend on the exact track of the system, which remains uncertain.

Temperatures in the Parkland will hover near or below freezing, potentially creating slick and hazardous road conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Residents are urged to drive cautiously and allow extra travel time.

A prolonged cold spell will accompany the system, with daytime highs only reaching the low to mid-30s through next Wednesday. The coldest mornings will be Sunday and Monday, with lows dropping near 15 degrees in northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois. Wind chills in those areas could dip into the single digits, marking the season's coldest conditions so far.
