Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - A.P.C. Solar will be providing the solar power equipment for Mineral Area College after members of the school's board of Trustees approved the company's bid at the last board meeting.
Mineral Area College President, Dr. Joe Gilgour, says the move will save the college about $300,000 a year in electrical costs.
Gilgour also says the intent is for them to see the benefits of the switch over to solar power by this July.
The solar field of panels will occupy about 8 acres on campus and will probably be located out of sight behind the softball fields. The change to solar power was approved by college patrons as a part of a bond issue in last April's elections.
