Missouri Special Session Could be Held

(Jefferson City, MO) Members of the Missouri legislature could be called back into a special session soon. The State Representative for the 117th District, Mike Henderson, says the situation deals with the state's medical Federal Reimbursement Allowance. Henderson explains each time a person goes into the hospital they are taxed about 5.6%. That money goes to the federal government, yet it's returned to Missouri each year as the legislature approves the FRA agreement each session. According to Henderson the agreement was approved by house members but not by Senators. Henderson says the Biden administration has put language in the agreement that could force some of the funds to go to Planned Parenthood funding abortions and many legislators aren't in favor of it.

Henderson says he feels a compromise must be worked out especially considering the impact the loss of funds would have on Missouri's rural hospitals.
