Planning Commission Awards CARES Act Funds

(St. Francois County, MO.) Members of the Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission are awarding nearly half of the over 7 million dollars in funding for St. Francois County from the CARES Act. The money is designed  to offset losses from the coronavirus and put certain procedures in place to fight it. Planning Commission members attended Tuesday's St. Francois County Commission meeting to announce the awards. The Chairman of the commission, and Associate Commissioner for St. Francois County, Patrick Mullins, says they were finally able to get the funds to school districts, municipalities, and other organizations.

According to Mullins they are taking applications from the county's not for profit organizations and will make those awards as soon as possible. In other business at the commission meeting Mullins introduced a resolution reprimanding the government for not providing timely rules and assistance to counties to get the CARES Act money where it should be as quickly as possible.
