Potosi Fire Protection District Evacuates Firehouse Due to Rapid Flooding

Potosi, Mo (KFMO) - The Potosi Fire Protection District evacuated Firehouse #1, located at 313 E. Jefferson Street, Tuesday morning, as rapid flooding inundated the facility.

Jefferson Street, directly in front of the firehouse, has been declared impassable, making it unsafe for any travel. Fire personnel have staged their equipment and emergency vehicles at the nearby AutoZone parking lot to maintain readiness. The flooding in Potosi has led to multiple water rescues as emergency responders work to aid those stranded by the rising water.

Officials from the Potosi Fire Protection District strongly urge residents to stay indoors and avoid travel if possible for safety.
