Residential Fire in DeSoto Under Investigation Following Injuries

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - On Thursday morning, the DeSoto Rural Fire Protection District responded to a residential structure fire, with crews dispatched at 11:28 a.m. by Jefferson County 911. Upon arriving, firefighters found the home fully involved in flames. While en route, there was uncertainty about whether anyone was still inside, prompting the fire department to request additional resources.

At 11:39 a.m., Pumper Tanker 5854 was the first to arrive on the scene, discovering a single-story wood-framed house with significant fire damage. Multiple fire hoses were deployed to attack the flames. After determining that the structure was evacuated and no one remained inside, the on-scene commander called for additional manpower and water at 11:44 a.m. EMS personnel were also requested to evaluate individuals who were at home when the fire began.

Firefighters worked diligently to bring the blaze under control, which they successfully did by 12:45 p.m. Extensive salvage and overhaul efforts followed to ensure no remaining hotspots. The fire resulted in injuries, prompting an investigation led by the DeSoto Fire Marshal and the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The DeSoto Rural Fire Protection District expressed gratitude to neighboring fire departments for providing mutual aid and coverage during the incident. They also commended Jefferson County 911 for its communication efforts.
