Smoke in the Area Leads to Quick Response by DeSoto Rural Fire Protection District

DeSoto, Mo. (KFMO) - Early Wednesday morning, the DeSoto Rural Fire Protection District responded to a call of smoke in the area of Seven Springs Drive and State Road V. Jefferson County 911 dispatched crews shortly after 6:15 a.m.

At approximately 6:27 a.m., an off-duty firefighter and the first responding fire apparatus arrived on the scene, discovering smoke showing from a small, single-story wood-framed shop.

The initial response was quickly upgraded to a first alarm, bringing additional resources to the site. Firefighters used forcible entry tools to gain access to the structure and deployed a hand line for an aggressive interior attack. By 6:46 a.m., the fire was under control. Crews proceeded to extinguish lingering hot spots and conducted a thorough overhaul of the building to ensure safety.

Investigators determined the fire's cause to be unintentional, with no signs of foul play. No injuries were reported.
