Ste. Genevieve Teen Arrested for Alleged Crossbow Shooting

Ste. Genevieve Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Authorities in Ste. Genevieve have arrested 19-year-old Jack T. Farlow in connection with a crossbow shooting that left one man injured. The incident occurred late on October 9, when the victim and a friend, both from Illinois, drove to a BP gas station at 599 Ste. Genevieve Drive to purchase cigarettes. According to investigators, while at the station, the victim encountered Farlow and two companions, including a juvenile, who questioned him about the large quantity of cigarettes he purchased.

After leaving the station, Farlow and his group followed the victim’s vehicle down Highway 61, flashing lights and honking, leading to a high-speed pursuit. The victim’s driver said they were frightened and tried to flee, but Farlow's vehicle pulled up alongside them, and Farlow allegedly fired a crossbow at their car. The arrow shattered the rear window and struck the victim.

The victim’s driver turned back to Rhodes 101, where they called for help. The BP station clerk confirmed to deputies that the group had engaged in conversation at the store.

During questioning, Farlow admitted to telling the driver to follow the victim's car and firing the crossbow, stating that his goal was to shoot out a tire to stop the vehicle and confront the occupants. Deputies seized a Barnett model XZP 370 crossbow as evidence.

Farlow is now charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. His bond has been set at $100,000 cash only. The two minors involved in the incident have also been taken into custody, though their identities have not been released due to their age. The investigation remains ongoing.
