Three Vehicle Accident Injures Two

(St. Francois County, MO) Two people are suffering injuries after a three vehicle crash Monday afternoon in St. Francois County. Highway Patrol reports show a diesel truck driven west on Highway 8, near Maple Street, by 60 year old Dwight M. Kay of Potosi, was stopped in traffic just after 1:30. A car driven west by 31 year old Chelsie B. Nash, of Bismarck, was stopped behind Kay's truck. The third vehicle, an SUV driven west by 53 year old Michelle R. Riggs of Mineral Point, was coming up behind the two. The report states Riggs was inattentive to the roadway and did not stop for the vehicles ahead of her. The SUV crashed into Nash's car which skidded and was pushed forward into the rear of Kay's truck striking it's trailer's bumper. Nash received serious injuries and was flown to Mercy Hospital South at St. Louis. Riggs was moderately injured and was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South. Kay was not injured.
