Voters Approve Big River Fire Protection District

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Patrons of the Big River Fire Department now have a Fire Protection District after approving the change to a Fire District in Tuesday's election.

Big River Fire Chief, David Pratte, says he's pleased with the support voters have shown and now firefighters can look towards the future.

Pratte says the new district will have a board of 5 Directors and the authority to impose a .30 cents per$100 assessed valuation tax that will eliminate the need to purchase fire tags.
