Norma Jean (Godsy) Roy, daughter of the late Ira Howard Godsy Sr., and Opal (O'Dell) Godsy, was born in Fremont, Missouri on February 14th, 1941, and gained her angel wings on September 2, 2024 at the age of 83 years Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Home in Fredericktown, Missouri.
On January 31st, 1959, on the Godsy family farm in Fremont Missouri, Jean was united in marriage to Ronald L. Roy, her High School sweetheart. To this union four children were born.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Opal Godsy, father-in- Luther Roy, mother- in-law Bessie Roy, two sons' in-law Richard Bess and Mark Chambley, sisters Dorothy Godsy Bailey and Lola Margaret Godsy Marcak.
Jean is survived by her husband of 65-1/2 years Ronald Roy of Fredericktown, daughters Dixie Bess (Keith Markeson), Gail Sloan (Andy) of Center Point, LA, Lori Griffin (DeWayne) of Joshua, TX., and son Russell (Pam) of Ellington, MO. Nine grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Brothers David Godsey, Ira Godsy Jr., Gordon Godsy, and Bob Godsy. Numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends who will mourn her passing.
Jean enjoyed quilting, gardening, bowling, and playing cards. She was member of the Junior Queen Anne Club of Van Buren, Mo., The Red Hat Society of Ellington, Mo., Friday Club of Fredericktown, WMU of Fredericktown. and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Fredericktown. Jean worked alongside her husband all her life, first at Smith Lumber Co. in VanBuren, then after moving to Ellington they ran the Hub City Motel and Restaurant and worked together at Ellington Realty, ending their careers at Sun Security Bank in Ellington before retiring to Fredericktown.
