Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - The Farmington Knights volleyball team is headed to a district championship game after defeating the Cape Central Lady Tigers in straight sets.
The Knights (23-11) and the Lady Tigers (24-9-3) had faced off just a couple of weeks prior, with Cape Central coming out on top in 4 sets. However, on Saturday, Farmington took control from the jump and never really seemed to let go for any serious length of time. After opening the first set on a 11-1 run, Cape Central did show a little bit of fight to make it close, but Farmington still took the set 25-22.
Farmington then took Set 2 25-17, getting another quick start while also closing out the set much stronger than they had done previously, and then used a strong mid-set rally in Set 3 to close out the match at 25-20 and send the Farmington crowd home happy.
Freshman Lila Roth led the Knights with an unofficial 10 kills. Junior Brenna Botkin had 8, and senior Cheyenne Strohkirch had 7. Farmington will play top-seeded West Plains on Tuesday for the district Championship in Farmington.
