FB, Week 3: Central Rebels and Jobe Bryant Power Through Potosi Trojans, Start the Season 3-0 For the Third Time in Four Seasons

(Potosi, MO) The Central Rebels remain undefeated after their victory over the Potosi Trojans 43-8 despite missing starting QB Casen Murphy due to illness.

The Rebels handed Jobe Bryant the keys to the offense after finding out Thursday, they’d be without their All-State quarterback.

Bryant slotted in comfortably in the role, completing 13 of 19 passes for 316 total yards and 2 touchdowns. Bryant also used the wheels for 94 rushing yards on 13 total carries and a touchdown. Central Head Coach, Kory Schweiss, says they are lucky to have someone like Bryant capable of handling the task at QB.

Bryant connected with Caden Casey in the first quarter for a 38-yard passing touchdown, then punctuated the first half with a 70-yard passing touchdown to Braydon Berry.

Jaxon Jones added 2 rushing touchdowns for 74 total yards on 6 carries in the win.

Potosi got on the board in the third quarter with a 12-yard run by Carter Pyatt. Trojans Quarterback, Luke Brabham ran for 46 total yards and threw for 21. He also threw 2 interceptions, both to Kannon Harlow, one resulting in a pick-6.

Despite starting the season with three straight losses, Potosi’s upperclassmen continue to play with a lot of heart. Trojan’s Head Coach, Dylan Wyrick, says his team is full of players battling on every play.

JT Cross led all Potosi rushers with 132 total yards on 20 attempts.

Central moves to 3-0 they host Cape Central in Week 4, while Potosi falls to 0-3 and travel to Ste. Genevieve in Week 4 to face off with the Valle Catholic Warriors.
