Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The Jefferson Lady Bluejays defeated West County in straight sets Tuesday, 25-22, 25-11, 25-8.
Jefferson (12-6) were winners of six straight matches coming into Tuesday's match, and were just as dominant Tuesday night. West County (7-9-2) put up a good fight in the first set, but the Lady Bluejays scored the final three points of the set to narrowly avoid an early setback.
The second set started in much the same way, with Jefferson holding a narrow 15-11 lead midway through, but the visitors then scored the next 10 points to take the set and go up 2-0. Set 3 was all Jefferson from the jump. After the Lady Bulldogs picked up the first point, Jefferson went on a 15-0 rally to take an insurmountable lead en route to a quick straight set win.
Jefferson senior Megan Wood led all attackers with 19 kills, she added an ace and a block. Senior Maggiey Wrigley had 11 kills. West County was led by sophomore Grace Lynch and senior Kaytlen Hartley, each with 6 kills.
Jefferson returns home for just the second time this season, they host Arcadia Valley on Thursday. West County opens up MAAA conference season play Thursday with a match against Valley Caledonia.
