(Cape Girardeau, MO) The Potosi Lady Trojans are headed to the Class 3 State Championship Game after beating the Odessa Lady Bulldogs in straight sets 25-21, 25-23, 25-23.
Ava Robart led all attackers with 26 total kills, while her sister, Eden Robart contributed 11 kills and a block.
Potosi trailed 11-6 early in the opening set before using a five-point rally to take a 16-13 lead. Then the Lady Trojans extinguished an Odessa spurt with a six straight points of their own to lead 22-17 drawing an Odessa timeout.
In the second set the Lady Bulldogs led by as much as four points twice (5-1, 12-8), but a Potosi timeout disrupted momentum and the Lady Trojans overtook Odessa at 17-16 shortly after.
The second set was tied at each point from 16-16 to 22-22 before Potosi rattled off three of the final four points.
Set three was tied after the first two points (1-1). Potosi took an advantage shortly after 5-1 and would lead all the way until late in the set when Odessa scored eight of eleven to even things up at 22-22.
Ava Robart scored a pair of points and Potosi punched their ticket to the State Championship Game.
Potosi (26-9-1) will play Logan-Rogersville in the Championship Game at noon on Friday. Coverage begins on AM-1240 KFMO at 11:30am.
