(Cape Girardeau, MO) Southeast Missouri State University Athletics introduced Briley Palmer as the ninth coach in SEMO WBB history.
A graduate of Farmington High School, Palmer has spent the last 12 seasons with Mineral Area College, eight as an assistant coach and he last four as head coach. Over those four seasons, Palmer has collected a record of 77-40 and finished as the Region 16 Runner-Up in the 2022-23 campaign.
The Lady Cardinals spent a majority of the 2023-24 season inside the NJCAA Top 25, finishing the year ranked 24th in the nation. Palmer’s Cards were undefeated at the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse in the regular season and tied a program record for wins in a single season with 25.
In a press release issued by SEMO Athletics, Palmer says:
“I am completely humbled to be women’s basketball coach at Southeast Missouri, and I would like to thank Dr. [Carlos] Vargas and Brady Barke (Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics) for this great opportunity. I am thrilled to be in this community, and I truly believe I’m here because you win with people first and that if you win in the community, you will win on the court and in the classroom. The Palmer Family will be the biggest fans of everything SEMO. My staff and I are ready to move into the new age of SEMO Women’s Basketball. Let’s Soar!”
Palmer signed a five-year contract that runs through April 30, 2029. She takes over for Rekha Patterson, who announced her resignation earlier in May.
