Ste. Genevieve, Mo. (KFMO) - The Ste. Genevieve Dragons defeated Potosi on their Senior Night, 28-7.
A lightning strike in the area caused the start of the game to be pushed back. What most thought was going to be a simple 30-minute delay turned into a lengthy, 2.5 hour debacle. The two teams finally kicked off at around 9:40 PM.
As for the game itself, it was largely dominated by Ste. Genevieve (3-1). Offensively, quarterback Luke Ferranto racked up yards both through the air and on the ground. He went unofficially 12-16 for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also recording 78 yards and 2 more touchdowns on 17 carries. He led the team in both categories.
Although Potosi (2-2) scored first, a 6-yard run for Carter Pyatt, who was filling in for injured starter Noah Walton, the Dragons scored 28 unanswered. Ferranto punched it in from 1 yard out to tie the game, then hit Wyatt Grein through the air from 28-yards out just before the half to take the lead.
As the game approached midnight, Ferranto added his second rushing touchdown of the day from 20 yards, before adding one more TD pass in the fourth quarter, a 9-yard pass to Devin Flye. Ste. Geneveieve took its third straight win as time expired, 28-7.
