Ste.Genevieve, Mo. (KFMO) - The Valle Catholic Warriors are the Class 2, District 1 champions, dominating the Caruthersville Tigers 62-21 in the championship game Friday.
This was a game never really in doubt. From the outset, the Warriors (10-1) dominated the Tigers (10-2), despite both teams being state-ranked in Class 2. Quarterback Wyatt Fallert threw for 6 touchdowns to 4 different receivers, including Colin Henderson and Tyler Gegg, who had 2 each.
Defensively, Valle gave almost nothing to Caruthersville. The Tigers got their first touchdown on a long kickoff return to make it 28-7, didn't score on offense until Valle had taken a 56-7 lead and had begun to pull its starters. Several new Warriors would see the field near the end as Valle Catholic took the 62-21 lead.
Valle Catholic are the Class 2, District 1 champions. They next turn toward the state quarterfinals, where they'll face the Bowling Green Bobcats. The two teams have already met once this season, with Valle Catholic taking the 42-20 win.
