(St. Louis, MO) The St. Louis Blues lost their home opener to the Minnesota Wild 4-1 on Tuesday night.
It was the fourth straight the game the Blues had trailed by two goals at any point in the game, and second game of the year that featured a three goal deficit to begin the third period.
Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov had two assists, while Ryan Hartman, Jakub Lauko, and Marco Rossi scored goals.
Mathieu Joseph scored his first as a Blue cutting into the three goal deficit, but Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson held strong in net for the final ten minutes. He made 27 saves in the win.
Gustavsson shot the puck the length of the ice at an empty net scoring his first career goal. Gustavsson became the 15th NHL goalie to get credit for a goal.
Jordan Binnington made 23 saves in the loss.
St. Louis (2-2-0) will host the New York Islanders Thursday. Coverage on B104.3 will begin at 6:30pm.
