St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) - Andre Pallante's 9 strikeout, 7-inning performance shut down the Pittsburgh Pirates and helped the St. Louis Cardinals to a 4-0 win Monday.
Pallante was able to outduel the Pirates' ace Paul Skenes, who gave up just 1 run in 6 innings. Offensively, Nolan Arenado, Pedro Pages, Brendan Donovan, and Lars Nootbaar all drove in runs, helping the Cardinals over the top and providing run support that admittedly has been hard to come by in recent weeks. Andrew Kittredge and Ryan Fernandez were called upon to pitch the 8th and the 9th, and were also able to keep the Pirates off the board, sealing the 4-0 victory.
St. Louis (75-75) plays three more games against the Pirates this week. Tuesday's matchup is set for a 6:45 first pitch, 5:50 pregame on B104.3.
