(Farmington, MO) Sales tax collections are up dramatically in St. Francois County. The figures were discussed at Tuesday's County Commission meeting. The Presiding Commissioner of St. Francois County, Harold Gallaher, says when people in other counties come here for an item they can't find in their area, they wind up buying it and other items as well and that trend has not only continued, it's increasing.
In other business at Tuesday's St. Francois County Commission meeting a debit card was discussed to pay those on jury duty. It would streamline the accounting process and save money for the county. Commissioners approved the effort to purchase patrol cars fro a local vendor at a substantial savings over state bidding and they also approved upgrades for the courthouse air conditioning system and the heat and air conditioning systems at the county morgue.
