Start a new tradition with your friends and family as you get some healthy exercise and enjoy the great outdoors. Some of the local state parks hosting first walks, and their times, include St. Joe State Park at Park Hills, in the Monsanto Lake parking area from 10 a.m. to noon, St. Francois State Park north of Bonne Terre at the Swimming Deer Trailhead from 1 to 4, Taum Sauk Mountain State Park near Ironton at the Mina Sauk Falls Trailhead from 9 a.m. to noon, Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park near Middle Brook at the Black River Center from 9 a.m. to noon, and at Hawn State Park near Ste. Genevieve at the White Oaks Trailhead from 1 to 3 o'clock. Registration will be required for all hikes. First Day Hikes are promoted by America’s State Parks.
