(Jefferson City, MO) Missouri State Highway Patrol officials report there were 3 traffic fatalities to report from the Christmas Holiday Weekend with no drownings or boating deaths. None of the deaths were in the Parkland area for the 78 hour counting period, which began at 6 p.m. Friday, December 23rd, and ended at 11:59 p.m. Monday, December 26th. According to statistics from Troopers there were 306 traffic crashes that accounted for the deaths and 84 injuries. There were also 52 DWI arrests. Of the three fatality traffic crashes investigated by troopers, two occurred in the Troop F, Jefferson City, MO, area, and one occurred in the Troop D, Springfield, MO, area. Last year during the 78-hour Christmas counting period, there were 881 traffic crashes statewide. In those crashes, eight people were killed and another 401 were injured.
