(St. Francois County, MO) National Weather Service Meteorologists are announcing a Winter Storm Watch will go into effect Thursday morning at 6 am and continue until midnight Thursday evening. There is also a Winter Wind Chill Warning which will begin at 6 pm Thursday and continue until 12:00 noon Friday. For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow is expected with a total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. Winds are expected to gust as high as 45 mph. The Wind Chill Warning indicates dangerously cold wind chills are predicted with wind chills as low as 30 below zero. The effected area is for parts of central, east central, and southeast Missouri and portions of south central and southwest Illinois. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Plan on slippery road conditions. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
