Winter Storm Warning Coming Tonight

(St. Louis, MO) Officials with the National Weather service are predicting anywhere from 3 to 5 inches to as much as 10 to 11 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow with our Winter Storm Warning for the Parkland. The Winter Storm Waning will be in effect for the Parkland tonight beginning at 6 o'clock. It lasts until 6 o'clock Wednesday evening. The warning covers portions of east central and southeast Missouri as well as parts of south central and southwest Illinois. Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Hazardous conditions could have an effect on this evening's and Wednesday morning's commutes. The rapid accumulation of snow will make travel extremely difficult, if not impossible. If you must travel be cautious. Keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions are available with the traveler information map at modot.org or by calling 1-888-275-6636. Visibility will vary greatly across the area, and weather conditions in rural areas will be worse than those in a nearby town or city. Although treated roads may wet, untreated surfaces will be ice covered and very slippery. Remain alert for rapid changes in road conditions, especially when turning onto lesser traveled roads, side streets, or parking lots.
