Guard Injured in Altercation at ERDCC

(Bonne Terre, MO) A female guard at the Eastern Reception Diagnostic Correctional Center at Bonne Terre is recovering after being assaulted Wednesday. A press release from the Missouri Department of Corrections indicates at approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, an offender at Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center assaulted an officer, striking her in the face and causing the back of her head to hit a wall. Other officers responded immediately, restrained the offender and secured the unit. The staff member was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, where she was treated for injuries to her face and head. She was released and is recuperating at home. The offender is in disciplinary segregation and will be referred for prosecution.
