House Members Send Bills to Senate

(Jefferson City, MO) As the special legislative session continues in Jefferson City State House Representatives are sending 5 bills to their colleagues in the Senate for approval. The measures deal with solutions to certain violent crimes, which is Governor Mike Parson's reason for calling the session. The State Representative of the 117th District, Mike Henderson, says each bill has its own particular way of fighting crime.

According to Henderson the additional two measures feature a bill that would remove the residency requirement for those who wish to go to work for the St. Louis City Police department and another that deals with the unlawful transfer of weapons to minors. Henderson explains he expects Senators will fine tune the bills and send them back to House members for another round of discussion and possible approval. Any additional session time would probably be tacked onto the September VETO session.  If Senators approve the proposals then they would go to the Governor for his signature to become law thus ending the special session.
