Mineral Point Audit Scores Poor

(Mineral Point, MO) Missouri State Auditor, Scott Fitzpatrick, is releasing a rating of poor for the petition audit of the Village of Mineral Point. Fitzpatrick says the audit showed the failure of the village to send bills to residents of the village for their utility services.

Fitzpatrick says there is a possibility charges could be discussed however he thinks it was more a case of simply bad management and not criminal intent. Fitzpatrick adds he recommends city officials follow the audit's recommendations to ensure the mistakes of the past can be avoided in the future. He explains they will follow up with Mineral Point officials in about a year. The audit was initiated through a petition by the citizens of Mineral Point.
