Two Die in Washington County Fire

(Cadet, MO) Two people are dead after a residential fire in Washington County Monday evening. According to reports firefighters were sent to a home that was on fire on Arnault Branch Road in Cadet at about 5:30.  Dispatch indicated a 53 year old woman and her 11 year old grandchild were reported to be in the burning house. The home was fully engulfed in flames when firemen arrived. Firefighters were not able to rescue the woman and the child and they died in the blaze. Fire crews were on the scene into he night. The Missouri State Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire along with the Washington and St. Francois County Sheriff's Offices and the Coroner. Officials aren't releasing the names of the child and the woman indicating they are waiting on autopsy results and notification of next of kin.
